UCN's Quality Assurance Coordinator works to provide Campus and Regional Centre supports regarding Student Course Evaluations, Student Entrance Surveys, and Student Exit Interviews.

The Quality Assurance Coordinator also schedules and/or facilitates classroom visits with tablets to ensure high response rates for form fill-out of their online evaluations and troubleshoots UCN’s online student course evaluation software, eXplorance Blue. Projects pertaining to the evaluations, surveys and interviews are also created and reports are generated in eXplorance Blue to retrieve data used for internal quality assurance purposes.

Program Quality Assurance

Procedures for the Faculty Review of Programs
As a quality assurance measure, program reviews are used to ensure that high standards are achieved in the delivery of programming. Typical program reviews include a self-study and a peer or external review and the participation of a variety of stakeholder including students, faculty, administration, alumni, and representatives from the community and industry. Mandated institutional program reviews may rely on or incorporate reviews conducted for accreditation for outside agencies.

The Faculty Handbook is a resource produced by Research & Academic Excellence to help staff and faculty become familiar with UCN. Additionally, the Handbook contains information and links to help faculty navigate the rules, practices, and policy of teaching at UCN.

Consider the handbook your "go-to" reference. You may access the 2018-2019 Faculty Handbook at: Faculty Handbook 2021-22.

Course Design & Planning

Course and program development and renewal are valuable processes in the evolution of programming offered at UCN. The specific process for proposing or revising a course or program will vary by faculty, however, new and revised programs and courses require approval by UCN's Curriculum Committee and ultimately the Learning Council.
