Job Searching is a process. Your job search is comprised of many different elements including networking. Career Services can help you create a strategic plan for success that includes all the tools you need to conduct an effective work search as a student and beyond.

Informational Interviews

 

Information interviews are another great resource in conducting your job search and making new network connections. Informational interviews are not job interviews. Information interviews are:

  • A discussion with someone who is working in a career or position that interests you
  • A research tool — a way for you to find useful and specific information that you could not find in books or on the Internet
  • An opportunity for you to interact with professionals and get specific advice to help you advance career

JOB SEARCH 101– EXT.0576

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will apply some best practices through each stage of the job search process. Each stage of the job search process will be explored and participants will apply a variety of strategies to conduct a successful search.

 

NETWORKING– EXT.0578

This seminar is designed to develop understanding around the value of networking in your career. Participants will learn about what networking is, where to establish networks, why its important, who to network work with and how. Learn great conversation starters and questions to ask at networking career events.

INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEWS– EXT.0574

Participants will learn what an informational interview is and how to conduct one. The differences between a job interview and an informational interview will also be discussed; learn how an informational interview will help you prepare for your career.
