These awards are made possible through the generosity of many individuals, businesses, corporations, associations and service organizations. They cover the specific requests of the donors and are intended to recognize students who have shown outstanding academic achievement, leadership, school or community involvement and/or are in need of financial assistance. The Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation (CSTF) is passionate about supporting post-secondary education (PSE) for all Canadians and believes that finances should not be a barrier to accessing higher education. That’s why they’ve invested $150,000 to support students in realizing their dreams of attending post-secondary school.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to apply, students must:
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person in Canada
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have completed high school level education (or equivalent)
- Be accepted to a post-secondary program at an eligible institution in Canada
- Be the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary education

Horatio Alger Vocational & Technical Education Scholarship
The Vocational & Technical Education Scholarships are awarded to eligible students across all provinces and territories in Canada. Deadline for application is June 17, 2024.
Eligibility
To be considered eligible for a Horatio Alger Vocational & Technical Education Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
- Applying or enrolled in a in a vocational or technical certificate program at a government or not-for-profit institution with direct pathways to employment
- Demonstrated critical financial need ($65,000 or less annual net income per family is required)
- Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Be under the age of 35
- Be a Canadian citizen

Manitoba Blue Cross Bursary for Students with Special Needs
UCN Manitoba Blue Cross Bursary for Students with Special Needs ApplicationThe Manitoba Blue Cross Bursary for Students with Special Needs is open to all students entering full-time studies (Fall 2024) in any post-secondary program at University College of the North who must incur additional expenses to attend university/college due to a physical or other disability. Applicants must be a resident of Manitoba. Selection is based on academic standing and financial need. Applicants are required to submit a completed UCN Manitoba Blue Cross Bursary for Students with Special Needs application and provide a copy of all high school transcripts, a current copy of their university/college unofficial transcript(s) -if grades are unavailable have instructors sign their name by the WIP to confirm regular attendance and proof of disability from a qualified health professional or the UCN Accessibility Resource Officer. The Retired Teachers’ Association of Manitoba (RTAM) annually awards four (4) post-secondary Student Awards of $1,000 each to relatives of RTAM members.

The Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship is open to all students who are entering a field of study in policing, criminal justice, community services or health care and are children/grandchildren (including foster children/grandchildren) of a current or retired member of a Component or affiliate of the National Union of Public and General Employees and are planning to enter the first year of a Canadian public, post-secondary education institution in 2024/2025. Up to three, $1000 scholarships may be awarded each year. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, career goals, extra-curricular activities, outside school activities, volunteer background and community involvement.

Voices is pleased to provide five awards to youth in care or from care who are pursuing their post-secondary education:

Advancing Futures Bursary
The Advancing Futures Bursary is being offered to students, currently or previously in the care of a Manitoba Child and Family Services agency who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized institution in Manitoba. The bursary is intended to assist students with education costs and help them achieve academic and employment success.
Students may be eligible for a bursary up to $10,000.

Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) Scholarship Program
The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) is a grassroots organization that works to improve the lives of blind, deafblind and partially sighted Canadians through education, empowerment, and advocacy. Each year, they offer scholarships to recognize outstanding blind, deafblind and partially sighted post-secondary students.

April Lahn-Ladobruk Memorial Bursary
The April Lahn Ladobruk Memorial Bursary aims to assist a young person financially, under 25 years of age, and who is or has received services from Marymound, where they need it the most. Financial help can be to purchase diapers, baby formula, a bus pass, to help pay for a Manitoba Public Insurance Road Test (Driver’s License), or a Heavy Equipment Operator Test. You might need to purchase new work boots for a job, we could help pay for the boots, etc.
Application deadlines are July 15th and November 15th, but exceptions can be made. Please contact Marymound to discuss a date that works better for your program.

Bank of Canada Scholarship Award for Post-Secondary Students
These CAD $8,000 scholarships are awarded to assist students with disabilities, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, Francophone and those who identify as a member of a visible minority group or racialized group to help remove barriers to education and support greater diversity in our workforce.

BUILDINGFoundations Bursaries
Manitoba Housing understands the vital role education plays in improving the quality of lives.
That's why Manitoba Housing's bursary fund provides nine $1,000 bursaries to post-secondary students living in subsidized rental housing units in Manitoba or receiving a rental subsidy funded by Manitoba Housing.

Jamie Hubley was a shooting star. An adored son and brother. A Fierce friend. A Saucy singing sensation. A Forceful figure skater and he was courageous and caring beyond words. But he also struggled with depression and loneliness — and from the bullying that came with being the only openly gay teen in his Ottawa-area high school. Bullying Ends Here was founded in loving tribute of Jamie Hubley, and his dream of spreading a message of acceptance and understanding.
This annual scholarship will be awarded to students who are residents of Canada.

The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Scholarship Program was established in 2002. This Program is supported by donations of the members of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA), the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association North Shore (CHHA-North Shore), the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL), and Doreen Laszlo (spouse of Dr. Charles Laszlo). Canadian Hearing Services National Scholarship Program
Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) proudly offers scholarships to Deaf and hard of hearing students to help break down financial barriers to participation and support the extra costs associated with accommodations in a higher learning environment.
The scholarships are available to Canadian residents who are at least 17 years of age, and Deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing. Scholarship grants of $3,000 for full-time students and $1,000 for part-time students may be applied to cover tuition, residence, and educational resources. The exact number of awards will be dependent on the number and ranking of qualified applicants.

UCN CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program Pre-Selection Application
The CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program aims to provide financial support to first time college and institute students who demonstrate financial need and who often face greater challenges and barriers to participate and complete post-secondary education. Students attending colleges or institutes in rural, remote, or northern areas will be given preference for the bursaries of up to $5,000 each. Pre-selection will be done by University College of the North and one successful applicant will be forwarded to Colleges and Institutes Canada for consideration; final selections will be done by a national committee. Deadline for pre-selection applications is October 2, 2024 at 4:30 pm (CST). The applicant must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or protected person, must be enrolled full-time in the first or second year of a multi-year post-secondary program and must be in financial need. Applicants are required to submit a completed UCN CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program Pre-Selection application, write an essay (max 10 000 characters) describing their community involvement and the impact that the bursary will have on their ability to attend education at a college or institute, write an essay (max 750 characters) describing the financial impact that the bursary would have, and an essay (max 750 characters) on how the bursary will help eliminate challenges or barriers to participating in and completing education. Applicants are also required to provide three letters of support (can be from a past or current employer, teacher, college administrator, community member, or campus organization, someone involved in student services or a faculty member), a confirmation of full-time enrolment letter and a copy of their acceptance letter. Students funded by student loan must submit loan documentation detailing the loan amount, disbursement dates, etc.
Community Foundation of Portage and District Bursaries & Scholarships
Applicants must be a graduate of a Portage la Prairie high school and reside, have resided or family of origin still resides in the City or Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie.

The Crossing the River Bursary is open to all students who are enrolled full-time in any post-secondary program at University College of the North. Dykes on Bikes Scholarship
The Dykes on Bikes® Scholarship was created with the goal of financially supporting the continuing education goals of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in Manitoba.
The Dykes on Bikes® Scholarship is an annually awarded scholarship in the form of a one-time grant given to two selected recipients who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Each recipient will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.

Eleanor Pluchinski Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Canadian Mental Health Association Manitoba and Winnipeg’s Eleanor Pluchinski Memorial Scholarship Fund is designed to provide financial resources for people with experiences of mental illnesses or mental health challenges who are pursuing post-secondary education.
Eligibility
- Experience of mental illness or significant substance use challenge
- Accessing therapeutic support/mental health services
- An identified job goal
- A demonstrated need for financial assistance
- Will be enrolled at a recognized Manitoba post-secondary institution by: September 16, 2024
- Will be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester and no less than 18 credit hours per calendar year
- At least 20 years of age and a resident of Manitoba

The Evans Premachuk “The Book That Inspired Me Award” is open to all students who are enrolled full-time or part-time in any post-secondary program at University College of the North. Applicants are required to read a book (fiction, romance, comic, drama, mystery, etc., minimum 150 pages) and write a 700 - 1,000 word essay describing how the book they read inspired them. Applicants are also required to complete a UCN Evans Premachuk “The Book That Inspired Me Award” application and provide a current copy of their university/college unofficial transcript(s) -if grades are unavailable have instructors sign their name by the WIP to confirm regular attendance. Financial Literacy Scholarship Canada
Our goal is to help Canadians make better financial decisions, and we believe that financial literacy is the key to this mission. We think that financial literacy is a lifelong commitment, and we want to encourage students to be mindful about their relationship with money early on in their lives.
For this reason, we are awarding $750 to a student every semester. All you have to do is show us how financial literacy has made a difference in your life. Tell us how you've budgeted, saved, invested, paid down debt, applied for as many scholarships as possible or how your side-hustle has helped you bring in extra cash. We want to know how your exceptional financial management efforts have made a positive impact in your life.

Footsteps Forward
The YWCA Thompson Footsteps Forward Bursary aims to provide financial support to individuals who identify as a woman or girl and have a desire to advance their learning. This bursary was formerly known as the Joan Johnston Award – specific to high school students enrolled in post-secondary studies. However, in order to be inclusive of all women and girls the bursary was reviewed and changes were made to reflect the diverse needs of our community. There are 2 bursaries that can be applied for: Bursary A Furthering Education will assist with expenses for short term training or programs and Bursary B Post-Secondary Enrollment will assist with expenses related to attending a post-secondary institute.
Deadline for Bursary A Furthering Education is None, continuous intake.

The scholarship, in the amount of $500, will be given to a person who identifies as female, is living in Manitoba, and who is working to overcome barriers to education as a result of systems and actions that have led to poverty or oppression, or are the result of colonization, racism, discrimination or inequities.
Funds through the scholarship can be used to cover costs associated with attending a training program, Adult Learning Centre or post-secondary institution such as tuition fees, books, childcare, bus pass, or lab fees. The recipient will need to provide proof of acceptance or confirmation of enrollment in a program.

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program supports students in achieving their academic goals while they make a lasting and meaningful difference in their communities. Jeanne Henuset-Fraser Memorial Bursary for Rural Manitoba Students
Established to honour the memory of Jeanne Henuset-Fraser, to enable students from a rural background to fulfill their educational dreams at a Canadian post-secondary institution of their choice. Jeanne was raised on a farm in Pipestone Manitoba, the oldest of five siblings. She excelled in school, however, the passing of her mother necessitated Jeanne to quit school at the tender age of 12 to look after her father and her four younger brothers. As she couldn’t fulfill her dreams for higher education, she was always a strong advocate for all her nieces and nephews to attain a higher education. Jeanne hoped that this bursary would enable others to fulfill their dreams. Deadline for application is June 15 at midnight.

Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship
Since 2012, Athena Leadership has proudly awarded the Leader of Tomorrow scholarship to one outstanding young woman in the Manitoba community. The scholarship exists to provide educational opportunity, and is heavily focused on recognizing and supporting young women who demonstrate leadership ability, more so than academic standing. With many deserving young leaders in need of assistance, Athena Leadership established the Leader of Tomorrow Fund (proudly held and managed through The Winnipeg Foundation) which it has since awarded annually.

MADD Canada’s Bursary Program
One(1) bursary of $10,000 will be awarded to the applicant with the highest score in honour of Louise Joanne Twerdy. Additional bursaries in the amount of $5,000 will also be available.
MADD Canada’s Bursary Program is open to Canadian citizens who have themselves been severely injured or who have had a parent (or legal guardian) or sibling killed or severely injured as a result of an impaired driving crash and who are enrolled in a full-time, ministry-approved, post-secondary educational program. Injuries must be catastrophic or severe and have had a significant impact on the applicants’ lives. Proof of injury and relation to impaired driving will be required.

Marymound Student Bursary Program
Were you ever at Marymound – in a group or foster home, or did you attend Marymound School? Maybe you have received other services from Marymound. If you are registered or planning to enroll in a full or part-time post-secondary education or training program, you may be eligible for a Marymound bursary.
The Marymound Bursary Program provides educational funding to eligible young people who received services from Marymound or who resided in a Marymound placement for a minimum of six months. Funds are provided to help cover costs such as tuition, books, and more while you are attending school. Individual bursary awards may range from between $500 to $2000 dependent on available funding and number of applicants. In most cases, Marymound bursaries are awarded twice annually.
Application deadlines are July 15 and November 15 but exceptions can be made.

Mayor Andrée P. Boucher Memorial Scholarship
FCM awards the Mayor Andrée Boucher Memorial Scholarship annually to two female college or university students deemed to have submitted the best research paper on a topic related to women in politics. The scholarship is named in honour of the late mayor of Quebec City.

Due to the unique circumstances of military life funds for pursuing post-secondary education are a significant barrier for many Canadian Forces families. The National Scholarship Program works to remove some of those barriers.

Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) Indigenous Student Bursaries
Annually ACU awards four bursaries of $2,000 to students of Indigenous Ancestry who are enrolled in a post-secondary business program or already studying in a business program at a post-secondary institution.
Applications for Indigenous Business Student Bursaries are accepted annually from September to the January 31 deadline.
Applications submitted after the deadline are not accepted or considered.

ATCO Indigenous Education AwardsThe ATCO Indigenous Education Awards Program supports First Nation, Inuit and Métis students across Canada by providing financial assistance to help them in their quest for higher education.
These awards, bursaries and scholarships are given to students who demonstrate leadership capabilities and strive to be role models in their schools and communities.
There are three different awards available:
- Merit Awards ($750) – for students completing Grades 9 – 12
- Bursaries ($1,200) – for students enrolled in trade/community technical college diploma or certificate program

Business Council of Manitoba Indigenous Education AwardsThe Business Council of Manitoba Indigenous Education Awards are open to all Indigenous students who are Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Manitoba (have resided in Manitoba for the last 12 months), who plan to enroll in a Manitoba public post-secondary institution in the upcoming academic year in any discipline (trades, business, general studies, science, etc.) and who demonstrate financial need. Applicants are required to maintain full-time status (at least 60% course load), provide proof of Aboriginal ancestry (photocopy of Treaty or Metis card), provide a copy of their official transcript or academic history, resume, and write a one page essay on: "Why you think you should be selected for an award." Deadline for application is May 31 annually; award amount to assist with the cost of tuition, books and supplies during the academic year: university $3,000/college $2,000.
All applicants are eligible to reapply each year of their studies for a maximum of three years. Eligibility to Apply
Under the Terms and Conditions, the Future Generations Foundation must ensure that the funds are made accessible to all First Nations and Metis people. To this end, eligible applicants include:

The Gwen Cook Memorial Bursary is awarded to an Indigenous woman or gender diverse individual enrolled in post-secondary studies in Manitoba who is a member of Manitoba Moon Voices and exemplifies these qualities. The award will recognize a deserving woman or gender diverse individual making a difference in promoting traditional and cultural values, as these were all important aspects in Gwen’s life.

Helen Bassett Commemorative Student AwardThe Helen Bassett Commemorative Student Award is prized at $1,000 and awarded to four Indigenous youth from each of the four directions: North, East, South, and West.

Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Awards
The Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Fund recognizes Indigenous students who are making a difference in eliminating the barriers of racism, sexism, violence, and indifference in society. The scholarship fund was established to honour her memory and provide financial support to Indigenous students. The fund is one of hundreds of scholarship funds managed by The Winnipeg Foundation.
Originally from Norway House Cree Nation, Helen Betty Osborne had a dream to one day become a teacher.
Helen attended Manitoba Brethren Collegiate Institute and was on the home placement program administered by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada. She also spent two years at Guy Hill Residential School (1926-1979) on the shore of Clearwater Lake just outside The Pas, Manitoba.
Helen was 19 years old when she was abducted and brutally murdered in 1971. It took 16 years for anyone to be charged with her murder with only one of four attackers convicted of the crime in 1987.
The purpose of The Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Fund is to provide financial assistance to Indigenous persons residing in Manitoba who are enrolled in post-secondary studies in Manitoba.
Awards are granted in the amount of $2,000 each.

The RBC Future Launch Scholarship for Indigenous Youth will award 20 scholarships annually valued up to $10,000 each per year (up to 4 years) to First Nations, Inuit and Métis students across Canada demonstrating strong academic performance and community involvement.
RBC has been providing a scholarship for Indigenous students to complete post-secondary education since 1992. To date, more than $1.8 million dollars have been awarded to 198 Indigenous youth across Canada pursuing post-secondary education.

Shaneen's Dream Scholarship
The Shannen’s Dream Scholarship is named in honour of Shannen Koostachin, a courageous young leader from Attawapiskat First Nation who sparked a national movement for safe and comfy schools for First Nations students. The scholarship is a $2500 award to assist First Nations youth with post-secondary education costs (university, college, trades).
Eligibility
- Open to First Nations youth 30 years old and under
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program (university, college or trade school) with a duration of no less than 13 weeks
- Consideration criteria: 1) the recipient contributes to their First Nations community (urban or rural) and, 2) demonstrates academic or extra-curricular accomplishments at school, such as taking part in clubs or sports teams
- "Pay-it-forward" requirement: The recipient agrees to make a fair and measurable contribution to Shannen’s Dream or a related First Nations initiative as a condition of the award. The recipient must agree to provide the scholarship committee with details of their contribution within one year of receiving the award
- This is a one-time award not renewable to past recipients
- Financial need will be considered

The Red River Metis & Cantor's Family Award is available to Red River Metis students who are attending a post-secondary institution in Manitoba. Tim McLean Memorial Fund Bursary
The Tim McLean Memorial Fund Bursary is open to an *Indigenous apprentice with a demonstrated financial need who has completed year one of technical training.

Tribal Wi-Chi-Way-Win Capital Corporation (TWCC) hosts an Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament to raise funds for the TWCC Scholarship Fund. The program was established in 2005, and was designed to promote First Nation students in Manitoba pursuing their post-secondary studies in the form of a certificate, diploma and/or degree. To date, TWCC has awarded over $130,000 in post-secondary scholarships to students in Manitoba.

In honour of Winston Menard, scholarships are being offered to Indigenous students entering or returning to a recognized accredited post-secondary institute as a full-time student. Applicants must demonstrate financial need for the upcoming year.

Hunt Scholarship application and attend an interview with the Thompson Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee. Eligibility
- Must be currently pursuing one of the following degrees or certifications: LPN/LVN, RN, BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, DNP, OT, OTA, OTD, PT, PTA, DPT, MLS, MLT, AT, MA, PA, CST, Respiratory Therapy, or comparable health science specialty
- Must be enrolled in the current and upcoming semester
- Must be a student in good standing with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

Foundation of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (FRNM) Bursary
The Foundation of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (FRNM) Bursary is open to any student who is registered in year two, three or four of the Bachelor of Nursing Program at University College of the North and who has maintained full-time student status. Selection is based on academic standing (overall GPA of 3.0 or higher), community involvement and financial need. Applicants are required to write an essay outlining their involvement in the community and why they feel they should be considered for this award (i.e. number of dependents, any special needs for these dependents, financial constraints, family circumstances, etc.); applicants are encouraged to include other commitments and any other comments they feel would support their application. Applicants are also required to submit a completed UCN FRNM application form, a current copy of their university/college unofficial transcript(s) -if grades are unavailable have instructors sign their name by the WIP to confirm regular attendance, current copy of their provincial/territorial student loan notice of assistance/assessment (if applicable), and a professional letter of reference from an individual (not a relative) who can verify their professionalism, commitment to nursing, effective problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, and potential for achievement in nursing. The Manitoba Nurses Union offers four (4) annual scholarships of $1,500 to students enrolled, for the first time, in a nursing program (RN, LPN or RPN) at a Manitoba institution. Students may apply for this scholarship in any year of their nursing program; however, nurses who have already completed a nursing program are not eligible. Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund (NRRF) Grants
The Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund was established in 1999 to assist with the recruitment and retention of Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses Extended Practice, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses in Manitoba.
The Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund (NRRF) is committed to enhancing the delivery of health services in the province of Manitoba, by addressing issues of nursing supply. Main functions of the NRRF include the development of strategies to assist with the recruitment and retention of Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Nurses – Extended Practice (RN-EP), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in Manitoba.

To honor her memory, Manitoba Nurses Union members in the Northern Region established the Sheryl Betnar Bursary and Scholarship fund. This fund was created in the hopes that it would assist Northern Region nursing students and Northern Region Manitoba Nurses Union members in establishing and or advancing their career in nursing.
There is an annual total of $500 worth of bursary money to a maximum of one member of the Northern Region, who is enrolled or has completed a nursing program within Manitoba.
In order to be eligible you must:
- Be a current Northern Health Region resident.
- Be enrolled or completed a nursing program at any Manitoba institution. Proof of enrollment or completion, applicable receipts or tuition must be submitted, valid, and from within 12 months of completion in order to be considered.

The Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Council Ladies Auxiliary University Scholarship
The Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Council Ladies Auxiliary University Scholarship is open to any student who is a resident of Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario Command and is entering or continuing in the Faculty of Physio Therapy, Masters of Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Nursing in a recognized Canadian University on a full-time basis. To be eligible for the Bachelor of Nursing Scholarship, the applicant must have completed Grade 12 and/or a minimum of the first year of study in University 1 as required by the Faculty of Nursing. Applicants are required to include a letter of acceptance from the University indicating the Faculty to which he/she have been admitted and a copy of their official transcript of their last year of formal education. Deadline for application is September 30; scholarship amount: varies per year.
The Town of The Pas Nursing Bursary is open to all students who are residents of the Town of The Pas for a minimum of 18 months prior to acceptance in the Bachelor of Nursing Program at University College of the North. Applicants must be entering third or fourth year of the program on a full-time basis. Selection is based on financial need. Applicants are required to submit a completed UCN Town of The Pas Nursing Bursary application and provide 2 proof of residency documents (e.g. telephone bill, property tax bill, rent receipt, etc.); 1 which includes address 18 months prior to acceptance in the program and 1 which includes current address at the time of applying for the bursary. Residency documents must contain student's name and physical location address. Applicants are also required to provide a current copy of their university/college unofficial transcript(s) -if grades are unavailable have instructors sign their name by the WIP to confirm regular attendance. Students funded by student loan must submit loan documentation detailing the loan amount, disbursement dates, etc. Deadline for application is April 2, 2025 at 4:30 pm (CST); bursary amount: $1,000.

ECE Tuition Reimbursement
A reimbursement of up to $5,000 per school-year is available to help cover the tuition-related costs of recognized early childhood education (ECE) programs offered at post-secondary institutions in Manitoba that lead to an ECE II or ECE III certification in Manitoba.

RCGW Scholarship
RCGW Scholarships are awarded each year for students who are enrolled in a Bachelor of Education Degree Program in Manitoba. The scholarships have been established to commemorate the charter of the Reading Council of Greater Winnipeg (RCGW) in 1956, and as well to recognize the visionary teachers from Winnipeg who formed the first council in Canada. The Manitoba Council For Exceptional Children Scholarships
The Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children offers four Scholarships ($750.00 each) annually:
- Two scholarships are available to support grade 12 or returning university students from Manitoba who are pursuing a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities. The individuals must be entering or in a current full-time education program in a Canadian institution. The scholarship money will be given directly to the recipient upon verification of enrollment.
- Two scholarships are available to students with exceptional needs who are transitioning from high school to post-school life, such as post-secondary education, job training or employment. The winning students must demonstrate a ‘Yes I Can’ attitude. The scholarship money is given directly to the student upon verification of enrollment (if pursuing post-secondary education) or other appropriate evidence of their post-school plan.

The Arthur Paulin Aftermarket Scholarship
The Arthur Paulin Aftermarket Scholarship is open to any student who is enrolled in an automotive aftermarket industry related program or curriculum at a Canadian college or university. This includes students pursuing their studies as an automotive apprentice or in any of the following automotive sectors: auto body, hard parts, heavy duty, or motive power (machinists). Applicants are required to submit a letter outlining their long-term automotive goals, a letter from their primary automotive instructor stating why the instructor feels the applicant is worthy of receiving the scholarship, a copy of their most recent academic record, a brief outline of their demonstrated leadership and civic abilities, and an outline of their financial considerations as they relate to their pursuit of automotive studies. Deadline for application is November 30 annually; scholarship amount: $700.

AIA Canada and the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UofAF) Scholarship Program
The University of the Aftermarket Foundation Scholarship is open to any student who is a graduating high school senior or who has graduated from high school within the past two years and who is enrolled in a college-level program, university or an accredited automotive technical program through either a Canadian Association of Motive Power Educators college or a CARS-approved institute. Applicants must be enrolled full-time for the year of the scholarship and must be enrolled from September of the year they are applying until April of the following year. Priority will be given to those pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket; participants must be attending a full-time program in Canada. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their most recent academic record, letter of recommendation from either an employer or teacher, a recent photograph for use in promotional materials, and write a 250 word essay indicating why they believe they deserve to be chosen to receive a scholarship. National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation (NPFBF) Gordon Clarke Annual Bursary
NPFBF has established the Gordon Clarke Bursary in the amount of $5000, which will be awarded annually to one student enrolled in post-secondary studies in the public safety field who has shown exceptional leadership, compassion and support for their community.

National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation (NPFBF) Regional Bursaries
The NPFBF will provide financial assistance to post-secondary students through twelve bursaries annually in the amount of $2,500 each. Students attending post-secondary studies and meeting the criteria will be eligible.

Orville Erickson Memorial Scholarships
The Orville Erickson Memorial Scholarships are awarded once per year to post-secondary students in the field of conservation. The fund is administered by the Canadian Wildlife Foundation and is financed entirely by private-sector donations in memory of Orville Erickson, a prominent Canadian conservationist and past CWF president. Lieutenant-Governor Medals
UCN Lieutenant-Governor Medals Nomination FormThe Lieutenant-Governor Medals, one gold and three silver, are awarded annually at Convocation to graduating students from any post-secondary program at University College of the North. Selection is based on high academic or technical ability, participation in university/college and/or community activities and good character and personality.
Students who meet the criteria are eligible to be nominated for one of the following medals:
- Silver Medal for Certificate Programs (excluding Trades Programs)
- Silver Medal for Trades Programs
- Silver Medal for Diploma Programs
- Gold Medal for University Programs
Two instructor and one peer recommendation letter detailing how the nominee meets the criteria must accompany a completed UCN Lieutenant-Governor Medals Nomination Form. Nominations can be made by an instructor or peer; self-nominations will not be accepted. Deadline for nominations is 4:30 pm (CST) on April 16, 2025.

Lorimer AwardUCN Lorimer Award Nomination FormThe Lorimer Award is presented by the University College of the North in recognition of outstanding service to education in Northern Manitoba (north of the 53rd parallel).
The award was named in honour of the late Dr. W.C. Lorimer, a distinguished Manitoba educator, who served as Deputy Minister of Education from 1967 to 1978.
The recipient of this award will have *made contributions in the educational field that are well beyond the call of duty and shall have had a major constructive impact. Their work, past and/or present, has involved a very substantial and continued commitment to Northern education.
Nominees may be a student, former student, employee of the University College of the North or a member of the community whose work fits the purpose of this award.
Nominations will be accepted until March 12, 2025 at 4:30 pm (CST) and must include a completed UCN Lorimer Award Nomination Form and three letters of support (not from a relative). All letters of support must provide concrete examples and clearly outline how the nominee meets the award criteria and why the nominee should be chosen to receive this award.

UCN Valedictorian Nomination FormThe Valedictorian will write and deliver a formal address to all fellow graduating students, faculty, honored guests, friends, and family attending Convocation. This honour will be bestowed upon one graduating student of University College of the North The Pas Campus and one graduating student of University College of the North Thompson Campus. Selection is based on acceptable academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or higher) and involvement in university/college extracurricular activities. Candidates must be a graduand of the University College of the North Class of 2025 of either The Pas or Thompson Campus, have strong public speaking skills and have applied to attend Convocation. All students who meet the criteria are eligible to be nominated.
Recommendation letters, two peer and one instructor, detailing how the nominee meets the criteria must accompany a completed UCN Valedictorian Nomination Form. Nominations can be made by an instructor, peer or UCN staff member; self-nominations will not be accepted. Please note: only successful candidates selected to represent the Graduating Class of 2025 as Valedictorian for The Pas and Thompson Campus will be contacted. Deadline for nominations is 4:30 pm (CST) on April 16, 2025.

College and Institutes Canada Art Showcase
Colleges and Institutes Canada is looking to showcase student talent on the walls of the association’s national office at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa! For the 2021 Art Showcase, CICan invites students from colleges and institutes across the country to submit their artwork. Each winner will receive a monetary prize of $350.
This year, CICan will be selecting a winner from the following six categories:
- Printmaking
- Textile, Mixed Media, or Sculpture
- Photography
- Digital Illustration or Animation
- Painting
- Drawing
The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2021.
